"Definitely some groovey, solid jems on this one! Hats off to DJ F. DAMN! It's really solid. I absolutely love CD one. Every track is well done and has a thought out direction. Nice work."

"The debut release on Revive the Soul imprint adds a classy new wrinkle to the mix CD market. Based around San Francisco, the first stop on a global tour, this double-disc package contains a wealth of exclusive house, world music, chillout and downtempo tracks and sports a nifty booklet that spotlights some of the Bay Area's best lounges. Relax, the unmixed first disc dubbed, opens with Julius Papp feat. Lazy Daze's gorgeous ¹Arabian Eyesœ and dishes up top notch world music sounds, such as dZihan & Kamien's ¹Dundadeova.œ The second disc, Revive, mixed by DJ F is a wonderfully deep journey woven together by cuts from Miguel Migs, Soulstice and Chris Lum. Destination Lounge is indeed a classy place to hang out."

"Both of these two-disc compilations showcase the smooth laid-back house and chill-out that has become the hallmark of the West Coast. Though neither is al that innovative, they're both solid examples of why SF's a landmark on any world scene map. Afterdark features house tracks full of fat basslines and sweet vocals from the Om and Transport catalogs. DestinationLounge, divided into ¹relaxœ and ¹reviveœ discs, features names like Julius Papp, Miguel Migs and Soulstice-all of whom, unsurprisingly, appear on Afterdark too. But there's a reason for that: they're pretty damn good."

"Destination Lounge San Francisco" is immediately attention-getting with its kickoff track "Arabian Eyes", an angelic and exotic piece of chilled tempo world music. The aqua flavored "Milan" is an epic chillout piece that incorporates a bit of the world flavor with Amethystium and Delerium tinged etherea touched here and there by classical elements. Deeper into the first disc you encounter such things as the downtempo funk-hop "Genevieve", proving that some eclectic thought went into this comp, and the dubbish "Dundadeova". Disc one is totally a laid back dish of groovechill for a night of musical relaxation (hence this disc's moniker "Relax"). The other disc is called "Revive" and does indeed lean toward a little more uptempo presentation, though its overall midrange pacing, while higher in energy, is still not aggressive ... it has energy but with a soft touch, starting off with the soulful house smoothness of "The Night (Andy Caldwell Mix)". Further in, "Palmetto" enhances the house theme, along with tracks like "Gotta Keep Movin'", while the variety is noticed on numbers such as the ethereal minimalism of "Listen to the Fog", the jazz flavahs of "What I Want", the woodwind influenced popfunk of "Get Down", etc. Housey flavors dominate disc two (hence the "Revive" name) but its house that reaches out in different directions, touching on various corners of the genre. While I prefer my chilled tunes in a more new agey realm (the aforementioned Delerium and Amethystium, plus ambient electronica such as that of Larry Kucharz), this is a rich presentation of groovey music."

"In a dance music Mecca like San Francisco, one might ponder if the abundance of quality house music feeds the large number of clubs and lounges, or if it's the ample number of clubs and lounges that incubate the fertile house music scene. This debut compilation from Revive the Soul presents the whole henhouse for inspection of this chicken-and-the-egg scenario, with a double-disc set of fine San Fran-styled house and downtempo grooves, as well as a gorgeous 28-page booklet that tells the tale of not only the artists behind these tracks, but profiles the City by the Bay's various venues. It's an oddly effective way of furthering the natural inclination of the compilation disc to invoke the spirit of going out while staying comfortably and cheaply at home. Disc one offers an unmixed warm-up with exclusive cuts from Julius Papp, Romanowski and Joonbug, while disc two is a more heated affair with San Fran's DJ F mixing up tracks by local staples Miguel Migs and Jay-J (appearing with Halo Varga and Latrice Barnett) as well as some female imports like Detroit's K Hand and London singer/songwriter Haley, who also contributes an exclusive. With far too many compilation sets vying for your CD buying dollars, the extra effort put into Destination Lounge's packaging and musical selection should bring it to the top of your shopping cart."

"Once a thriving force in the music industry, back in the late sixties and early seventies with the Hippie/Free Love movement, San Francisco stood tall and proud musically. Always in constant musical competition with The Big Apple, San Francisco has regained it's place once again as a city known for breeding various multi-cultural emerging and established talent with styles strictly all their own. With the surge of Lounge/Chillout bars opening everywhere, this once underground music that was strictly supported solely by the musically hip crowd has developed into a strong musical force because of the genres' creative way of incorporating the sounds of today with true musical craftmanship and the ability to bring people of many various backgrounds together to just simply have a good time. Destination Lounge San Fancisco is an exciting 2 CD compilation of the Bay Area's Chillout, Downtempo, and Nu Jazz scenes. CD1 is called "Relax" and covers the essence of the individual tracking of chillout and downtempo classics such as Karsh Kale's "Milan", Romanowski's "North South East West", Mystery School Ensemble's "Tansition", and Karmacoda's "Awaken". CD2 is called "Revive" and, mixed by DJ F, is the dance side and it does just that with hot tracks like DJ F's "Listen To The Fog", the Soulstice classic "Fall Into You", Jay-J/feat. Latrice Barnett's pulsating "Summertime", and K Hand's "Get Down". To all those that enjoy this genre, Destination Lounge is an amazing testimonial to all of the gifted chillout-downtempo-nujazz artists from San Francisco."
